Since May 2003 we have been providing simple but instrumental services to
children and families at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as they forge
their way through cancer treatment. While focusing the majority of our efforts
at CCMC, we are also supporting cancer care on a national level.Gift of Support
Each month, enrolled families currently receive pre-paid
gasoline cards and telephone cards, hospital parking vouchers and
cafeteria meal vouchers. These items are there to assist with the costs
associated with the frequent visits to the hospital for life-sustaining medical
care. All services are offered and provided regardless of demonstrable financial
need.
Gift of Art
Art supplies and activities are donated to the Child Life
Department for use at the hospital. During the long and, often times,
uncomfortable clinic visits, art can serve as both a relaxing diversion from the
rigors of treatment and a healthy mode of expression.
Gift of Time
HANNAH’S GIFT serves as a resource for providing social outreach
services to these special families. Through special events and a network of
caring individuals who have endured similar circumstances, children and their
families will have a means of acquiring social and emotional support in their
journey through cancer treatment. HANNAH’S GIFT also provides a variety of
bereavement services.
Gift of Hope
HANNAH’S GIFT supports the efforts of the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF)
by disbursing funds to the NCCF and by promoting their public education and
childhood cancer awareness efforts. The NCCF supports the work of the most
prestigious childhood cancer treatment and research centers in North America,
the Children's Oncology Group (COG).
